Support Sitemap Index file upload in External sources

Requesting support for industry-standard sitemap index files (sitemapindex.xml) as external sources in AI Assistive Search. Currently, sitemap index files are rejected, requiring customers to either consolidate all URLs into a single <urlset> sitemap. Supporting sitemap index files would allow customers to leverage their existing SEO infrastructure and simplify AI search source configuration.

Are you using a single sitemap index that references multiple sitemap files, or multiple sitemap index files?
Approximately how many child sitemaps and URLs are referenced by your sitemap index?
Is this request for AI Assistive Search only, or would you also expect sitemap index support in other sitemap-based integrations?
Are there any limitations with consolidating your URLs into a single <urlset> sitemap, or is the primary goal to reuse your existing SEO infrastructure?
Could you share a sample sitemap index (or its structure) that you're currently using?
