Remove/disable markdown shortcuts in Advanced WYSIWYG
backlog
A Burger
Text in the WYSIWYG editor is automatically styled per markdown settings when using the same special characters that are traditionally used to style text in markdown. Thus, I cannot place underscores, asterisks or double asterisks around text without the text converting to italics or bold (for double asterisks). Similarly, using hash(es) with a space at the beginning of a line of text then converts that text to a heading. The only way around this at the moment is setting that text as code or in a code block. While keyboard shortcuts for styling text is great and expected in the WYSIWYG, they and the editing tools should be the only way to do so. Markdown editing should be exclusive to the markdown editor.

Hi A Burger,
Thank you for sharing your feedback on how Markdown-style formatting is applied in the WYSIWYG editor. We understand how this impacts your workflow and appreciate your insights.
At the moment, this is not part of our roadmap. However, we will closely monitor this feedback and assess its demand. Based on customer traction, we will evaluate and prioritize it for a future roadmap.

Hi A Burger, thanks for reaching out to us. In our advanced WYSIWYG editor, we allowed using the markdown syntax to provide a good experience for the markdown users. Currently, we don't have a plan to provide a provision to configure the enable/disable markdown syntax in the advanced WYSIWYG editor.
If you have any concerns or suggestions, feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for your valuable time.
