Record an article's title (H1) history *somewhere* in D360

When using the compare tool for two versions of an article, neither article version's title (H1) is displayed. And as far as I can tell, there's no way to discover the history of an article's title. Once changed, you cannot see what it was changed
from
. Even when looking through Team Auditing to see when a title is changed, there is no record of what it was changed from
. Another issue, which may be related, is that when you filter the Team Auditing list to show only instances of article title changes, clicking on a recently changed article's title results in a 404 error. Why would that be?
There should be some way to be able to see the history of what an article's H1 has been. Even event notifications sent to Slack are missing the information of the article's previous title.

Tracking a document H1 title's history would be relevant for us, too.
Our help articles might, over time, apply to new products, while legacy products might be removed from the products cited in the H1 article title. Or error codes might be added to the H1 title once they become relevant, but be removed once all machines in the field have been upgraded/updated, while the largest part of the article remains as it was.
Use cases:
- On document 360, historicization of the title would make it easier to know when such changes have been made, and by whom.
- Off document 360, finding information related to a specific article in other project management tools (like Asana/Jira) or repositories (like SharePoint/Google Drive) etc. proves difficult after its title has changed on the CMS. So another use case would be to better be able to relate CMS documents to (non-synced) off-site information.

Hi Aegean Tuna
Thank you for sharing the detailed feedback. We understand the concerns around the visibility of an article’s H1/title history, particularly when comparing article versions, reviewing Team Audit records, and tracking title changes through notifications.
Before we evaluate the requirement, could you please share the key use cases or workflows where having the
previous and current article title
is most important? For example, it would be helpful to understand whether the primary need is to:
- Identify what an article title was before it was changed.
- Compare title changes between different article versions.
- Investigate title changes as part of content governance or auditing.
- Track title changes for troubleshooting or collaboration purposes.
Understanding the primary use cases will help us assess the requirement and determine the most appropriate way to address it across the Compare, Team Audit, and notification experiences.
Also, we’ll separately look into the reported
404 issue when accessing an article from the Team Audit records
and validate the current behavior.
