Provide a spreadsheet-like Column Freeze feature

Navigating wide tables in our documentation can be a challenge. When scrolling horizontally, it's easy to lose track of which data belongs to which row, making it difficult to analyze information.
To solve this, we propose providing the ability to freeze columns. This feature would allow the user to lock a key column in place, ensuring it remains visible as they scroll across the rest of the data. Just like in a spreadsheet, they'd no longer have to constantly scroll back and forth to understand data.
This simple feature will greatly improve readability, providing a more intuitive experience for all users.

We are adding more and more tables to our articles as this is how our references are formatted, there is no issue with EddyAI answering the questions correctly. But some of our users using keyword search end up somewhere in the middle of the table when it highlights the text and they have no reference for the headers or key row reference details. This is especially difficult when we have tables that are large both vertically and horizontally as the scroll bar for the horizontal is at the bottom of the table. Users then have to scroll all the way down, over to possibly the right column and then back up to check. Then they also lose the reference for the row they were trying to find the details for.

Hi Mukesh, I was thinking along the same lines as Usama and it would be very helpful for post publishing for our readers. It would be helpful for the editors too, but the main audience I had in mind were the readers. Thank you!

That would be great indeed!

Additionally, I would also like to get more information on the same request.
Do you see this feature (freezing rows/columns) as a need only in the KB Portal (while editing content) or even in the KB Site (post publishing as well). This would help us better understand the scope.

Mukesh Sriram, thanks for getting back. The request is for post publishing, however, it'd be a 'nice to have' at the editor level as well. Not sure what level of effort will be needed, but we don't want the actual ask to be delayed because of that.

Hi Usama, Aleks, Bethany, good day!
This is a wonderful feature to have, thanks for the ask, appreciate it! This surely does improve the user experience while working and navigating on huge and wide tables.
We already have noted this feature request and have planned it to be picked up in the upcoming H1. Currently, we are prioritizing other critical fixes and feature improvements related to the table module for this Q4.

Also row freeze, so we can freeze the header row for long tables

it would be very nice to be able to freeze the header row too!
