Maintaining Heading Order in TOC with Mixed Heading Levels
Prabakaran Ashok
We would like to preserve the order of the Table of Contents (TOC) when different heading levels are added.
For instance, when multiple H3 headings are present, they appear in the correct order. However, if H4 headings are added after H3, they get indented, disrupting the overall sequence.
Our goal is to maintain the order of the headings in the TOC, even when different heading levels (like H3 and H4) are included.

We’ve received feedback from our customers regarding the Table of Contents (TOC) behavior in KB Site 2.0. They’ve raised concerns about the heading structure and alignment, which is causing confusion for end users.
Currently, all H2 headings are left-aligned by default. However, when an H3 heading appears beneath an H2, the H2 heading becomes indented with an arrow, giving the impression that it’s a sub-heading of the previous H2. This creates a misleading hierarchy, as the indented H2 is not actually a sub-heading.
Additionally, the H3 heading shown under the expanded arrow is also not a sub-heading of the indented H2, further adding to the confusion. As a result, the TOC appears inconsistent and unclear in terms of heading structure.
