In the woodworking industry, precise terminology is critical. Many domain-specific terms are not translated correctly by standard machine translation systems.
Issue:
Automated translations frequently misinterpret key terms, leading to incorrect or confusing documentation. Examples:
German: “Platte” → Incorrect: Plate / Sheet → Correct: Board
German: “Programmschieber” → Incorrect → Correct: Program fence
Such inaccuracies are especially problematic in technical and customer-facing documentation. In addition, the terminology used in the applications often does not match the translated documentation, creating further confusion for users.
Proposed Solution:
Define industry-specific terms in the Document360 glossary and pass these entries to Azure Translator as a custom terminology dictionary. This ensures that predefined translations are consistently applied across both documentation and applications.
Expected Benefits:
Without this capability, each translated article requires manual correction, making automation inefficient. Integrating the glossary into the translation process will significantly improve translation quality, ensure consistency between applications and documentation, and reduce manual effort.

This request is currently under review. We'll evaluate the feasibility of supporting glossary-based terminology during the translation process, including integration with translation providers such as Azure Translator, to improve translation consistency, reduce manual corrections, and better align translated documentation with product terminology.
