Expand TOC section on anchor link navigation (in-page and external)

When ‘Collapse TOC headers’ is set to ‘on’, it would be helpful if the relevant section automatically expands when navigating to a header via a link (in-page and external). Currently, the section remains collapsed, making it unclear to the user where they are within the table of contents. This would be especially beneficial on larger pages with more extensive TOCs.

Hi Nutty Vole,
Thank you for sharing this request.
We understand the usability concern when “Collapse TOC headers” is enabled and users navigate directly to a section via:
-In-page anchor links
-External deep links
Currently, the relevant TOC section remains collapsed, which can make it difficult for users to identify their current location within the article structure.
We’ll take this as an improvement request to evaluate automatically expanding the relevant TOC section based on the active heading/navigation target.
This will be reviewed based on priority, implementation scope, and customer traction, and we’ll share updates if this is taken up in future planning.
