Disable specific snippet

It would be helpful to have a Disable Snippet option instead of only Delete.
Currently, deleting a snippet removes it from all linked articles, which also removes its existing dependencies. If a snippet is used across many articles, it must be added again manually later.
A disable option would allow users to temporarily hide the snippet while keeping all article associations intact. Once re-enabled, the updated snippet would automatically appear in all linked articles.
This would be especially useful for temporary changes, such as
- Hide pricing tables or plan details while new pricing is being finalized.
- Hide warranty terms, disclaimers, privacy text, or policy statements until legal approval is complete.
- Temporarily remove snippets promoting features currently under maintenance or downtime.
- Disable snippets for offers, promotions, or limited-time banners after the campaign ends.

Hi Janeera
Thank you for sharing this detailed use case - this highlights a clear gap in how snippets are managed today.
We understand the need for a “Disable Snippet” capability as an alternative to deletion, where:
- Snippets can be temporarily turned off without breaking existing article associations
- Dependencies across articles are preserved, avoiding manual rework
- Re-enabling the snippet restores it seamlessly across all linked articles
- Teams can safely manage time-bound or approval-dependent content (e.g., pricing updates, legal content, promotions, or maintenance messaging)
Currently, deleting a snippet removes it from all linked articles, and there is no option to retain associations while making it inactive.
We have logged this as a product enhancement request and will evaluate it as part of our upcoming roadmap planning. This aligns well with broader content governance and reusability improvements we are exploring. Prioritization will be based on customer demand, impact, and strategic alignment.
We will keep you informed on any updates via our roadmap and Canny portal. Thank you for the comprehensive context - it strongly supports the case for this capability.
