Create Index category-Page category Hybrid
under review
Frank Swanson
Currently the Index category type shows a table that lists its contents but can’t be used to display text. On the other hand, the Page category type accommodates text but doesn’t include a table that lists the category’s contents.
My coworkers and I would like to have a category that can do both: display text AND include a table that lists the contents of the category.
The workaround that we've settled on is to create a Page category with the necessary text and then add hyperlinks for the category's contents. But this is just a workaround, and it requires us to remember to manually update the list of hyperlinks whenever we add or delete articles within that category.
A category that accommodates both text and a list of articles or sub-categories that automatically updates whenever we make changes would be really helpful. (See the attached screenshot for an illustration of what I mean.)
These existing feature requests seem related to this one:

I totally agree with the request and the understand the workaround that I figured out during my 2-week trial period. Really inconvenient without this hybrid type of page. I'm not in love with Confluence but they even support this. lol
We are currently trying to migrate our external client documentation out of Confluence because of other challenges so I am surprised when a feature it supports is not supported (yet) by Document360. Don't really want to go backwards in functionality.

Enable Attachments for Index Type Categories
Anna McDonald
We need the ability to have attachments on Category pages that use the Index type, so we can provide an attachment of the full guide in PDF, but not have to update all the hyperlinks manually. There are other "hybrid" requests for Category Management. Please consider the Attachments as part of the request.

Anna McDonald thanks for taking your time to share the feedback and provide an elaborated information about the importance of it. We will have this evaluated while we address "hybrid" requests.
The distinction between page Category & Index type is that you can have contextual information about the list of following articles within that page, which is not available in the later. Sure, we will also consider the attachments as part of the request as well.

Any update on this request. Currently have to manually create links because and can't use this as we need some sort of introduction before inserting any links. Just having a bunch of links as soon as the user opens the category isn't very helpful.

Hello Frank Swanson Caroline Tabach Anna McDonald thanks for your feedback. I will have this analyzed and keep you posted about the updates and our approach to achieve this.

Thiru: I'm looking for the same kind of page, I was hoping that there would be a block similar to the ones in the Home Page builder, but wasn't there. So, in theory can this be solved via the API(and jquery inside Doc360)?

We'd love to have this, too. It would be a smoother flow to have an introduction to the document ahead of the links. Currently, we have the category page of links, and then the reader has to navigate to the Overview article just to learn more about the document.

Having a category page that allows to add some text before the index will be super useful
