Category and reader group management is too high level for managing content access. There is conditional content blocks, but you can't do that with a whole article. It would be beneficial to turn on/off singular articles for different readers/groups. It would also be necessary to identify and track which articles this has been done to. A mass edit function to edit or remove this functionality from more than one article at a time would also be helpful. This is specifically aimed at internal company kb articles, where the goal is to make things accessible to larger groups, and restrict manager related articles without having to manage excessive categories. This would also be used to define shared content across countries where some articles may be universal while the bulk may be different amongst countries.

From customer success: We currently do not support article-level conditional visibility or user-tag–based access control. At this time, conditional content is supported only at the block level.
That said, there are a few workarounds using existing features that may help address your requirements to some extent:
Conditional Content Blocks
Authors can use conditional blocks within an article to show or hide specific sections for different reader groups. While this doesn’t enable whole-article visibility, it allows for targeted content variations within a single article.
Reader Groups + Category/Article Security
Reader groups can be used to control access at the article or category level. This works well for broader segmentation (e.g., Managers vs Employees), though it may require some content restructuring.
Article Tags for Internal Content Management
Tags can help organise and identify content (e.g., “Manager”, “Region=US”). While tags don’t enforce visibility rules, they are useful for maintaining clarity in more complex documentation setups.
Separate Workspaces (if required)
For significantly different content views, separate workspaces can serve as a temporary workaround and help reduce excessive content duplication.
