Category Landing Page Builder (with customizable sections and widgets)

When category landing pages are available, it would be great if they could support customizable sections/widgets similar to the homepage. For example: article spotlights (similar to the Home Page Builder "knowledge base categories," but the col-blocks would link to individual articles instead of categories) and featured articles (similar to the Home Page Builder "image and text" with a featured image and title/summary that all link to the featured article).
Whether this be enabled through article editor enhancements or something more along the lines of the Home Page Builder, the ability to create category landing pages that act as homepages for the specific category would be extremely useful.

Remarkable Orca: This request is not related to the homepage builder. We would like to have the versatility of the homepage builder incorporated into category pages. For instance, the ability to add widgets to the category page that only pull results from articles in that category.
