Allow Starring Items with Read Only Access

The customer requested the ability for users with read only access to star articles and folders. Currently, users with custom roles and read only permissions are unable to star folders, even though they can view the content. The customer expects users to be able to mark articles and folders as favorites regardless of edit permissions.

Thank you for sharing this request. We understand the expectation for users with read-only access or custom roles to be able to star articles and folders, allowing them to mark important content as favorites even if they do not have edit permissions.
At the moment, starring functionality is tied to permission capabilities, which is why users with strictly read-only access are unable to star folders. However, we do see the value in enabling this for better personal organization and quicker navigation within the knowledge base.
We will evaluate this request further and monitor the overall customer traction for this requirement. Based on the level of demand and impact across customers, we will determine the feasibility of prioritizing it in our roadmap.
In the meantime, if you have additional use cases or examples of how teams are planning to use this capability, please feel free to share them. This will help us better assess the impact during our evaluation.
