We would like the option to configure individual column widths while maintaining an automatically fitted table layout on the page.

It might be helpful to design this around some kind of "lock column width" feature. In the below table, the Ticket ID column and Fix Date are values with around 10 characters, max. So if I could set the table to "auto fit", but then lock the Ticket ID and Fix Date columns to the width I prefer, then the table would only need to resize the Title and Description column.
The table in my screenshot also wastes a bit of space in the Title column because it's trying to just evenly distribute the columns. So you're left with about 5 characters' worth of space that would be better suited to the Description column so text isn't running across a lot of lines.
Really, the main column I'd like Doc360 to "prioritize" expanding and contracting is the Description because it has the most text. Just some thoughts.
